Dear Dena, children and family,
We are deeply sorry to hear about the death of rabbi Dubrawsky. Our hearts are with you in this time of sorrow.
Rabbi Dubrawsky contributed a lot to the Vancouver’s Jewish community with family counseling. First time my husband and I contacted rabbi 15 years ago when our currently 32 y.o. son was a difficult 17 y.o. teenager. The boy was angry with us as parents, left home and didn’t want to talk or hear from us. Rabbi helped us to understand our son’s motives and advised how to build relationship with him on a new level. We couldn’t express our appreciation when six months later our son asked sorry for all his behavior.
Since that I came to get rabbi’s word of wisdom on various occasions: dealing with laid off at work, communication problems with a friend, and later on how to behave in a new role of a grandmother and build/preserve relationship with my son and a daughter-in-law. Rabbi was able after asking a few questions get into root of the problem and to give an advice.
People usually charge huge money for counseling but rabbi didn’t- everything went as donation to the synagogue. We would miss tremendously Rabbi Dubrawsky’s experience, expertise and wisdom.
For a number of years Rabbi Dubrawsky led “Meet the rabbi” group in Richmond BC. Once a month Jewish-Russian families met at somebody’s house for lectures and Questions-&-Answers sessions. Rabbi saw his mission in helping Russian Jews who were unable to practice Judaism in Russia, to learn traditions and return back to their ancestry and Jewish life.
Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. May the peace that comes from the great memories of rabbi Dubrawsky comfort you now and in the days ahead.
Inessa & Leon Rubin
