FIrst time I met Rabbi and Deena Dubrawski in 1987 when I was visiting Vancouver from Moscow and attended a Rosh Hashanah celebration in an old Lubavitch building. It was my first celebration of a Jewish Holiday and I remember how shy I was among so many nice looking and well dressed people. I was very concerned about my English but still was able to answer many questions about Jewish life in the USSR (or rather lack of it). I remember Lipa and Deena were young and good looking and I think only had their first newborn. I told her that she was beautiful and she started laughing. Since then I have been always telling her this, as she is still young and beautiful. Rabbi had been always nice to me and my son and many times invited us for Shabbat. I regret I had been there only twice. It was only 10 days ago I saw them both at a funeral and he was asking about my life. Deena said we should meet more often and only for simhas. If we both knew... I cannot believe he is gone and will always remember him and his kindness.
